Art Deco Wallpaper

What good is it to customize your icons if you’re stuck with the same old wallpaper on your desktop – or a desktop picture which clashes with your new look? You could scour the web for an alternative – or – spend hours and hours creating your own – or – better yet, check out tonight’s selection of desktop pix I created specifically to go with my Art Deco icons. Most work great with any size and resolution monitor but if playing around a bit with the Appearance setting options (centered, stretch to fit, stretch to fill) that’s found in System Preferences if you’re on a Mac, post a comment here and let me know which desktop picture and what size you need and I’ll post them in an update. Enjoy!

A Century Ahead of it’s Time

It was the late 1970’s and I was about to be married, looking around my Salvation Army chic apartment, friends and family wisely assumed those furnishings were not representative of my taste so asked my fiancé and I what we liked. When we told them “anything Art Deco” almost all of them responded with a totally blank face, admitting that they had never even heard of Art Deco! While examples of it were everywhere, it seems to have been widely dismissed by the average middle-class, mid-western American as a soul-less aberration that failed to respect their “old country” heritage. Forty years later (and almost a century after its’ infancy, Art Deco is finally getting the respect it deserves.

Birth of a Blog

Posted by: • Date:

Welcome to my Blog! For the past 5 years I’ve been experimenting with the best ways to share the huge library of icons and graphics that I’ve created, but the sites I had found to be the “best” to post on have gone on hiatus or perhaps have been abandoned entirely (ResExcellence, MacMonkies). “Scrapblog” came closest to my liking as far as ease of creation of the graphics on my pages but it isn’t very searchable and can be slow for the viewer. So, I’ve decided to give WordPress a whirl, starting out with one of their free templates just to get my content on line but over the next few weeks this blog will be gradually eased in to one of my own original skins that I’m presenting trying to hand code with the jQuery library. I hope you’ll check back often as the new look progresses and the content expands as “IconDoIt – The Blog” promises to be a very different and interesting place to visit!
