Deviation to Green Day & Zack

Posted by: • Date:

I’ve been temporarily interrupted from being able to post new icons due to a glitch with the server that hosts my originals. Hopefully Apple will resolve that within the next 24-48 hours. In the meantime, thought I’d take the opportunity to give you guys a treat with a (very short) clip from YouTube that someone had captured at a recent Green Day concert down in Nashville, Tennessee. Lead Singer Billy Joe had grabbed a fan from the audience and invited him to play with them (after having to first swear that he actually could play). The fan, Zack, is 17 years old and did his own fans and family proud taking over the lead guitar and singing along with the band.

Disclosure: Thirty-something years ago I used to baby-sit for Zack’s Mom, Robyn, who is the daughter of my foster-mother’s sister. How’s that for a convoluted Six-Degrees connection? 😉

Art Deco Wallpaper

What good is it to customize your icons if you’re stuck with the same old wallpaper on your desktop – or a desktop picture which clashes with your new look? You could scour the web for an alternative – or – spend hours and hours creating your own – or – better yet, check out tonight’s selection of desktop pix I created specifically to go with my Art Deco icons. Most work great with any size and resolution monitor but if playing around a bit with the Appearance setting options (centered, stretch to fit, stretch to fill) that’s found in System Preferences if you’re on a Mac, post a comment here and let me know which desktop picture and what size you need and I’ll post them in an update. Enjoy!

Art Deco’s Celebration of Life

Posted by: • Date:

While art from the Renaissance period seemed to languish in dreamy repose and Victorian Art sat straight up to regal pomp and propriety, Art Deco exuded the energy, rebelliousness and daring of the first generation of the 20th Century as they passed out of childhood as if shot from a cannon. Some, in fact had emerged from their innocent cocoons in the trial by fire that was the First World War.
